FOUNDATION DESCRIPTION
Recycling Research Resources, Inc., is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit Arkansas corporation established to address challenges and opportunities in the management of solid waste and promote and facilitate the public and private-sector benefits of recycling. Referred to as the Recycling Resources Foundation, the tax-exempt corporation complements private, federal, state, municipal and county solid-waste management programs, with the primary goal of increasing participation in regional and statewide recycling programs.


MISSION AND BENEFITS
Recycling increases the value a community can offer its residents and businesses. Further, effective recycling programs are proven to positively influence economic development, new-business site selection, and private-sector job creation.

The benefits of recycling include, but are not limited to:

Reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills and incinerators;

Increasing local economic security by tapping domestic sources of materials;

Creating private-sector jobs in recycling and recycled raw materials manufacturing industries;

Supporting local, state, and national manufacturing and conserving natural resources; and

Saving energy and protecting the public health and a shared environment.

These goals and benefits inform the mission of the Foundation, which is:

To create economic opportunity, markets, and investment through recycling programs and projects;

To positively impact state, regional, and local business development;

To facilitate the growth of a profitable, sustainable, and diverse economy.

RECYCLING TOOLS
The primary tools for effective recycling are research, education, and implementation. Research to qualify and quantify recycling objectives, strategies and tactics; education to promote informed participation; and implementation to realize action-oriented solutions. The Recycling Research Foundation was established to pursue these primary tools, thus meeting the goals of increasing the value a community can offer its residents and businesses, and supporting economic development and private-sector job creation.

FOUNDATION PROJECTS
The Foundation is currently involved in a number of projects:

Facilitating a statewide electronic-waste recycling program (Act 839 of 2021, the Electronic Waste, Collection, Recycling, and Reuse Act);

Remediating nine waste-tire dumps through funding by the Arkansas American Rescue Plan Act;

Researching available and developmental resources of recyclable glass for the manufacture of ultra-lightweight foam glass aggregate;

Providing a market-based solution to existing asphalt-shingle dump sites;
-
Expanding markets for recycled waste-tires; and
-
Developing a model recycling research and education park.
